Montréal-based GIRO, a world-leading maker of integrated software solutions for public transport planning, is pleased to announce that it has signed a major agreement with BVG, the public transport agency that operates subway/metro, bus, and tram services in Germany’s capital, Berlin.
Following an international call for tenders, BVG – which has a yearly ridership of more than one billion – selected GIRO’s HASTUS software, which is already in use in many major European cities including Paris, Geneva and Stockholm. HASTUS is a robust solution that enables public transit operators to plan, manage and optimize their entire bus, subway, train and tram network.
“GIRO is extremely proud to be partnering with Germany’s largest municipal public transport agency, putting our tried-and-tested industry expertise at their disposal,” said François Fortin, GIRO’s Vice-President – Europe and South America. “Our software solutions stand out through innovative development strategies and leading-edge technologies that aim to meet the key environmental and social challenges around sustainable mobility.”
GIRO had previously worked with BVG in 2014 to optimize BVG’s nighttime network. This new agreement bolsters GIRO’s global leadership position and consolidates the company’s presence in Germany, where it has ongoing mandates in Munich, Hamburg and Cologne, among other cities.
