Technologies

Our software leverages the Windows® server and desktop platform, providing a stable, productive, and familiar desktop environment.

The relational database can be hosted on a ODBC-compliant Oracle® or MS SQL Server® database server.

Our scalable architecture supports any size of organization, from the standalone user, to enterprise-wide installations with hundreds of users.

Application delivery models

Our applications cover the spectrum of configuration models – client-server, three-tier, and Web-based.  Client-server installations run on Intel- or AMD- based Windows, over a local-area network.

Multiple users and/or remote sites can be supported using Windows Terminal Server, optionally with Citrix Presentation Server for additional manageability.  This three-tier configuration allows for “thin” clients and browser-based access.

Batch optimization processes are managed through a built-in job queuing facility.  They can either run locally on a user's workstation, or be dispatched among a “computing farm” comprised of any number of computers.

Web-based applications

Web-based applications are available for functions addressing a larger user base, such as transit operators or the general public.  These include a SelfService module for operators and crews, as well as the HASTINFO trip planner, in the context of public transit.  Web-based applications are also available for our GeoRoute (data and servicing route updating) and GIRO/ACCES (trip requests in the context of paratransit) software products.

Web applications are validated with all current browsers and they follow the accessibility guidelines set forth in the "Section 508" of the US Rehabilitation Act.  They are developed using Microsoft .NET® technologies and run Windows IIS Server with ASP.NET®.  Extensive use is made of CSS – Cascading Style Sheets – for easy customization to meet corporate color and design guides, and integration into corporate Intranet and Internet sites.

Open data access, extraction, and reporting

All our software products feature an integrated, open database, with a fully documented data model and object model.

Standard reports, configurable lists, and built-in integration with Crystal Reports® provide unlimited reporting capabilities.

Standard script-based interface creation tools allow you to define interface formats for data import and export, in XML or ASCII formats, for easy data integration with external systems.

Enterprise integration

Configurable data extraction tools are provided to easily share data with other applications.  Standard interfaces allow HASTUS to be successfully integrated with complementary products and applications (e.g. AVL, GIS, HR, payroll systems) from leading vendors.

SOAP-based Web Services allow integration into service-oriented architectures, providing accurate real time information to third-party systems, such as ERP, HR, Customer information, IVR, and Web sites, as well as receiving transactional updates from enterprise applications.

Our Web Services are fully interoperable with any other systems complying with industry-standard protocols such as SOAP, XML, HTTP, WSDL, and SSL.
