GIRO and MTR Stockholm combine efforts and experience to successfully complete latest HASTUS installation

March 2010 GIRO is pleased to announce the successful installation of its HASTUS scheduling software at Mass Transit Railway (MTR), operator of the Stockholm Metro system.  The installation completes the first phase of an aggressive implementation plan developed by GIRO and MTR to ensure smooth operations and efficient service when MTR officially began operating the metro on November 2, 2009.

The HASTUS scheduling and operations software chosen by MTR includes the Vehicle, Crew, CrewOpt, Roster, and DailyCrew modules, as well as a payroll interface.  The company is using the scheduling suite to build efficient timetables, vehicle schedules, and operator (crew) work duties, as well as prepare weekly and periodic crew assignments and manage day-to-day operations.  The HASTUS solution also provides flexible management tools and ensures interoperability with external applications such as payroll.

GIRO’s experienced staff and comprehensive software – combined with MTR’s hands-on involvement –contributed to a successful first phase of the HASTUS installation. The next phase is currently underway and will be completed in April 2010, followed by installation of the SelfService module.

We were pleasantly surprised to have implemented the HASTUS software as quickly as we did, and we attribute this to hard work by all, great support from GIRO, and the dedication of MTR’s management to achieve success in a short period of time,” said Johan Helander, IT Consultant and HASTUS Project Manager for MTR.

MTR Stockholm is very pleased with HASTUS and GIRO’s project work so far,” added Tobias Lindblad, Performance and Planning Manager – Traffic. “Now, with HASTUS in full production, we have created good conditions for efficient resource utilization,” said Lindblad.

Our experience working closely with customers from around the globe is one reason HASTUS is so comprehensive and reliable today,” said GIRO’s Nordic representative, Odd-Jørgen Sagdahl. “Efficient management on both sides of this ambitious project was the key to completing the first phase of the installation on time. Now the focus is to ensure MTR benefits from the full potential of the software, and we’re confident the project will continue to go smoothly,” added Sagdahl.
