GIRO is the recipient of several awards and distinctions highlighting the technical merits of its products, as well as successful implementations around the world.

GIRO has received an Innovation Award from the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA) for its HASTUS-BidWeb technology. BidWeb is an optional module (used in conjunction with the HASTUS-Bid module) that leverages Web
functionality to improve
the efficiency and cost-effectiveness of roster
assignment bids, vacation bids, and vacation replacement bids. Key benefits include greater employee independence, reduced administrative burden, greater accuracy, and reduced paper consumption.
CUTA is the national association representing public transit systems, suppliers to the industry,
government agencies, individuals and related organizations in Canada. The National Transit Corporate Recognition Awards recognize major contributions and outstanding achievement in the areas of Safety, Innovation, and Outstanding Achievement/Exceptional Performance. Recipients were selected by a national committee of transit professionals. GIRO’s Innovation Award was presented on
May 18 at the 2010 CUTA Annual Conference in Ottawa.
- 2010 – Top Technology Innovation
Mass Transit magazine names GIRO’s HASTUS solution one of the top 20 technology innovations in the transit industry for 2010.
- 2003 – CUTA excellence award for GIRO/ACCES implementation at the STM
The GIRO/ACCES implementation at the Société de transport de Montréal (STM) received an excellence award from the Canadian Urban Transit Association (CUTA). The award is intended to recognize exceptional performance or outstanding achievements in productivity and cost-effectiveness among others.
- 2002-2004 – GIRO awarded “Export Performance” award
The success of GIRO’s efforts on the international market were recognized by the “Journal des Affaires”, a Montréal business publication, based on the recommendations of an independent jury of business and academic leaders.
- 2002 – Technology Export Award
GIRO again recognized for its ability to export its products and know-how, this time by Industry Canada.
- 1999 – GIRO awarded the Omond Solandt Award for outstanding contribution to Operational Research by the Canadian Operations Research Society (CORS).
- 1995-2003 – The Toronto Transit Commission installation of GIRO/ACCES, the “Wheel Trans Information System”, was honored by three prestigious awards:
- 2003 Computerworld Honors: finalist for the 21st Century Achievement Award in the transportation category.
- Computerworld-Smithsonian Award: finalist for the Best Project of 1995.
- Canadian Information Productivity Award of Distinction for 1995.
